Can an emotion really affect my health that much?

Stress causes a change in how the body functions. Responses like fear, anger, grief can negatively affect us – long after the event that caused the stress.

When the body fails to “let go” of these responses we can develop unexplained avulsions, sabotaging behaviours, exaggerated emotions and physical symptoms/ conditions.

In our centre we use a technique called NET (Neuro-Emotional technique) to identify and balance stuck neuro- emotional patterns.

Although the concept of dealing with emotions and stress has long been associated with talk-it-out psychotherapy, counselling, and other therapeutic modalities, this is NOT how NET works.

The expression of an emotion/stress involves a complex, reactive, pattern of changes in body physiology including chemical, neurological, vascular, and muscular tone.

NET does not treat emotions

NET specifically works with the ‘physiology’ of the emotional/stress response.   The goal of NET is not to treat emotions but to identify and balance the physiological connections that relate to those emotions.

In fact, emotions are normal and healthy responses in a healthy individual and are part of our interaction and adaption to our immediate environment.  It is an unhealthy situation when there is poor adaption, when emotions are not allowed to be processed and become “stuck”, leading to psychosomatic and somatopsychic issues and maladaptation.

The primary goal of NET is to identify this maladaptive response, connected to present and/ or past life stressors, and to restore a more connected state of function via chiropractic vertebral subluxation correction and/ or meridian points.

In short, NET deals with these weakened physiological states that have ultimately made the body vulnerable, via poor neuro-emotional adaption, to a challenging situation or stress.

So, is NET counselling?

No.  NET is not a “talk” therapy.  It does not employ any element of counselling.

NET is distinguished from psychotherapy in that it is not a therapy directed to the psyche.  It does not employ counselling.  It does not advise behavioural changes. It does not suggest certain interventions.  Whilst a client may make their own changes to their lifestyle or behaviours, it does not come from direct instruction from NET.

NET is a safe, effective, and natural way to resolve long-standing health issues that have a mind-body component in response to some of life’s many stressful events.

Referral and consent

All practitioners have patients, from time to time, who would benefit from referrals.  Whether it be due to a ‘structural’ or ‘emotional’ condition it is important to know when another practitioner or professional would be better suited to deal with a client’s specific needs, ensuring their safety and welfare.
