Pregnancy & Birth
Whether this is your first pregnancy, or you are extending your family, you and your body are about to experience the most amazing miracle of new life and birth! Congratulations!
We see lots of ‘Mums-to-Be’ at Innate Family Chiropractic Centre. We love helping mums-to-be through pregnancy, making it more comfortable, more empowering and helping your baby have the best possible start to life.
At Innate, we believe that pregnancy is a time of joy and exciting anticipation; yet for some the experience is tainted by pain, discomfort and even illness. This can often be due to the many structural and hormonal changes, that affect the spine, nerves, joints, ligaments, connective tissues, centre of gravity and stability, women undergo through pregnancy.
Optimal Pelvic and Spinal Balance
Your chiropractor will work on your spine and pelvis during your pregnancy attempting to promote balanced movement and alignment, together with relaxed muscles and ligaments.
If the pelvis is in a balanced, functional state, the ligaments connected to the uterus are more likely to maintain an equalised, supportive suspension for the uterus.
If your pelvis is out of balance and misaligned, these ligaments can become pulled and twisted causing distortion of the uterus and discomfort. This scenario can then be a factor in causing a condition known as constraint of the uterus. When this happens, the baby may no longer be able to freely move and may become stuck in an unnatural position.
At Innate, we understand that pregnant women have special concerns. There are so many things pregnant women worry about: staying pregnant, carrying the baby to full term, morning sickness, the baby developing normally, backaches, leg pain, what your birth will be like etc. This is why helping pregnant women is so rewarding. It is humbling that mums-to-be trust us with their chiropractic care during this time.
Chiropractic care has been observed to help pregnant and birthing women in several ways. Roger has been adjusting pregnant women for years and we look forward to supporting you through your special time.
